We have seen very distressing updates on the wildfires in Greece from last week. The photos below are from Thompson Pet Travel, who were involved in rescuing trapped animals on Tuesday night in conjunction with groups of wonderful Greek people. Many animals were saved but there were harrowing losses too.
Of the action that was taken to save the animals, Thompson Pet Travel say:
“We were just a small part of a huge operation that was put together incredibly quickly. We were guided by Dogs Voice of where we were needed, Marsha Dimopoulou was coordinating a huge part of this incredible operation. The volunteers came from everywhere, they were amazing. Most are just young people who love animals.”
“There so are many sad and often shocking stories from Greece, and yes, there is still a long way to go. But we were watching a new generation in action last night, and they were a credit to rescue and to Greece. They’re coordinated, passionate and dedicated to the animals, truly making things happen and advocating change. It gave us such heart to see.”
We will be donating towards this tragedy and to help the rescued animals.
